What are veneers used for?

Porcelain veneers can be used for both restorative and cosmetic purposes. In cases where a patient has one or more front teeth that have been affected by decay or damage, a veneer can be used to protect and support the tooth while simultaneously restoring its appearance. Veneers are also commonly used to provide patients with complete smile makeovers. If you wish your smile were more symmetrical or you feel the size of your teeth look uneven, veneers can be placed on all of the front teeth that show when you smile to provide you with your ideal look.

Are veneers permanent?

Before any veneers can be placed, the teeth will need to be prepped. This involves removing a small amount of tooth enamel so that each veneer can fit over the teeth without looking or feeling bulky. Enamel is the hard outer layer of a tooth that protects it from harmful bacteria that cause tooth decay, and once it is removed, a veneer, crown, or a similar restoration must be put in place to protect each tooth. Because of this, veneers are considered a permanent cosmetic treatment option that provides patients with beautiful, long-lasting results.

Are veneers expensive?

Veneers can last well over ten years when they are taken care of properly, and they are carefully crafted for each patient. As a result, porcelain veneers tend to be more of an investment than other cosmetic options.
